INTRODUCTION

Welcome! This Privacy Policy explains how Hughes Media Law Group PC (“HMLG” or “we”) collects, uses, and shares your personal information while you use the HMLG websites located at https://www.hmlglaw.com/ and social media channels that link to this Privacy Policy (“Sites”).

  1. PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND HOW WE USE IT.

When you visit and/or use our Sites, we may collect Device Information (defined below) from the device you are using, Order Information (defined below), and/or Contact Information (defined below).  All of these types of information we may collect about you are called your “Personal Information.

  1. Device Information.

When you visit the Sites, we automatically collect certain information that does not tell us who you are, but may let us identify the specific device you are using to visit the Sites (such as your computer, tablet, or smartphone) (“Device”), and information about your web browser, your Device manufacturer, your operating system and version, network information, IP address and general location information, and your time zone and language settings. As you browse the Sites, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view on the Sites, what websites or search terms referred you to the Sites, and information about how you interact with the Sites. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information.”

We and our Service Providers (defined below) collect Device Information by setting cookies and other tracking technologies on the Sites. For more information about cookies and other tracking technologies we use on the Sites, and how you can control their use, please review our Cookie Policy in Section 3 below. We may use your device information to measure, analyze, improve, and optimize how our Sites work. 

  1. Contact Information.

When you use the Sites, there are several opportunities for you to interact with us, such as contacting us by the Contact Form or emailing us directly. When you contact us, we will collect and use your name, email address, and any other information you voluntarily provide to us so we can respond to you (“Contact Information”).

How We May Use Your Contact Information:

  1. To respond to the questions and inquiries you send us.
  2. If you have subscribed, to send you occasional marketing newsletters and other email updates about HMLG (“Newsletters”). For instructions on how to opt-out of receiving Newsletters, please see Section 6.

  1. SHARING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION WITH THIRD PARTIES.
  1. Service Providers.

Like most companies, we use tools from Service Providers to help us run our business (“Service Providers”). Depending on the service we need, these Service Providers may have access to your Personal Information. We use Service Providers for the following:

  1. To host the Sites.
  2. To deliver emails and newsletters.
  3. To help us conduct web analytics on the Sites.

We require all Service Providers to treat your Personal Information as confidential information and only use it for the services we need. However, we do not have direct control over how Service Providers use your Personal Information, and we cannot guarantee that our Service Providers will use your Personal Information as we have told them. For this reason, we are not responsible for our Service Providers’ misuse of your Personal Information. 

  1. Business Transfers.

As HMLG grows and changes, we may reorganize our company, join with, or create new companies, or start business relationships with other companies. When any of these changes happen, any information you provide may be shared with or transferred to these companies (subject to any pre-existing privacy notice unless you consent otherwise). If HMLG is bought or merges with another business, your information will likely be transferred to that business. You understand and agree that we reserve the right to transfer any information collected from you in these cases. If a change happens, we will use reasonable efforts to notify you before information about you is transferred and a different privacy policy would apply.

  1. Legal.

We may disclose information you provide to respond to subpoenas, court orders, requests from authorities, and other legal processes, and to establish/exercise our legal rights. We may also disclose your information to defend against legal claims when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request. We may share your information to investigate, prevent or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, and situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of our Terms of Use, or as otherwise required by law.

  1. COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES.
  1. What are Cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your Device by a website you visit. Commonly, companies use cookies on their websites to identify visitors, to remember visitors’ preferences, to better understand how visitors use and interact with the website, and to keep visitors logged into their accounts while they navigate the website. Cookies are either first-party cookies, which belong to the domain you are visiting, or third-party cookies, which are set by and belong to a different domain than the one that you’re currently visiting.

  1. Your Control Over Cookies. In some cases, a third party might give you the ability to opt-out of receiving their cookies. Please review the third party’s privacy policy and/or cookie policy for more information. You can also control how cookies are used by updating your browser settings to accept or refuse all or certain types of cookies. If you choose to reject certain cookies, please note that the Sites and/or some of its features may not work properly.

  1. ANALYTICS OF PERSONAL INFORMATION. As an online business with an online presence, it is important for us to know how users interact with our Service. HMLG and our Service Providers will collect your location information and Device Information so we can deliver our Sites to our users, measure, analyze, and improve our Sites, and update and develop our Site. For example, we will use this information to fix any bugs or errors in the Site, study the demographics of our users, and to decide if we need to support a new Device type for the Site. 

  1. DO NOT TRACK. Please note that we do not change our Sites’ data collection and use practices when we see a Do Not Track signal from your browser.

  1. OPTING OUT OF OR UNSUBSCRIBING FROM NEWSLETTERS.

If you wish to unsubscribe from receiving Newsletters, you can click on the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of the email. Please allow up to 24 hours before you stop receiving Newsletters. You may also continue to receive emails unrelated to marketing.

  1. THIRD PARTIES AND THEIR POLICIES.

Throughout the Sites, you may see links to third-party websites or applications. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party sites, and when accessing their sites, we encourage you to read their privacy policies.

  1. DATA RETENTION.

How long we store your Personal Information depends on why we originally collected it. We will not keep Personal Information for longer than necessary for our legitimate business purposes or to comply with legal requirements. If you would like your Personal Information deleted, please contact us at admin@hmlglaw.com.

  1. SECURITY.

The security of your Personal Information is important to us. We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect your information, both during transmission and once it is received. However, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. While no security system is completely secure, HMLG and our Service Providers take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access or disclosure of the information we collect.

  1. MINORS.

The Sites are not directed to persons under the age of 18 and we do not knowingly collect information from persons under the age of 18. If we learn that we have received any type of information from a person under the age of 18, we will delete such information. Please contact us at admin@hmlglaw.com if you believe we have collected information from a person.

  1. FOR EUROPEAN UNION RESIDENTS.

If you are a European resident, you have the right to access Personal Information we hold about you and to ask that your Personal Information be corrected, updated, or deleted. You also have the right to receive a copy of the Personal Information we have about you. If you would like to exercise these rights, please contact us by emailing admin@hmlglaw.com.

Additionally, if you are a European resident we note that we are processing your Personal Information to pursue our legitimate business interests, such as direct marketing, to prevent fraud, and to conduct analytics on the Sites. Please note that your information will be transferred outside of Europe, including to Canada and the United States.

If you believe your rights under the GDPR have been violated, you may file a complaint with the supervisory authority of your country of residence.
