Shirley Roberson

Senior Associate

Background

Born in Montana, raised in Georgia, worked first career life in Los Angeles, and now practicing law in Seattle is Shirley’s geographic progression to the HMLG team. She’s here because HMLG provides opportunities to practice innovative law and collaborate with clients who are forging new paths and inventing industry standards. One of her favorite parts of her job is the opportunity to meet with a technology client in Barcelona in the morning, discuss strategic corporate development with a start-up client in the afternoon, and close out the day delivering Stock Purchase Transaction documents to a client raising funds for their next steps.

Shirley didn’t always practice law. She started her career as a Corporate Communications professional, managing internal and external communications programs for Wherehouse Entertainment, DIRECtV, and the Los Angeles Conventions and Visitors Bureau.

But the law beckoned. Armed with her BS in English from U.C. Davis and her MBA from Keller Graduate School,  she attended Loyola Law School of Los Angeles, earning her JD in the heart of L.A.

Shirley inspires a love of transactional law by giving impactful, plain-English presentations to local non-profit organizations, colleges, and as an Adjunct Professor at Seattle University School of Law. She also gives back to the law community by serving as a judge for moot court and other competitions for the University of Washington School of Law and Seattle University School of Law.

Community involvement is also extremely important to Shirley. She is a past President of Rain City Rock Camp for Girls’ Board of Directors and volunteers for RCRC events whenever she can. She supports Book-It Repertory Theatre as a past board member and currently serves on the Board Development Committee.
