More VC Firms Need to Look North

VC’s take note – there’s gold in them thar “Pacific Northwest” hills!
With over 400 startups incorporating here last year alone, Seattle has incredible entrepreneurs with amazing ideas and tremendous potential for big returns. But finding funding can be a struggle, especially when the VC representation is slimmer here than in other enterprising areas like Silicon Valley. While the Seattle-area's quota of Angel investors seem to be on par with our neighbors to the South, VC's are a little harder to come by. Which means, the field here in the Emerald City is ripe for enterprising VC firms looking for talent and ideas.
Here’s a great summary from the Puget Sound Business Journal on a recent study of the startup ecosystem + resource guide for technology entrepreneurs. The guide is aimed at early stage companies looking for funding and was a joint effort by UW's Foster School of Business and Leader-2-Leader.
Interesting takeaway from the guide - one of the most important hires for an early stage company is a well-connected legal team to help make introductions to potential investors and advisors.
